Man shot several times outside his Visalia home

VISALIA, Calif.

Investigators say the shooting happened Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Cherry and Chinowth in Visalia.

Visalia Police are asking people to be careful because they think the gunman is armed and dangerous. They are now looking for the suspect who they say shot and killed a man on his front lawn.

"Our information is he fled the scene with a firearm, so we do consider the suspect armed and dangerous," said Lt. Brian Winter, Visalia Police.

One neighbor, who was too shaken up to show her face on camera said a man, who lives in the house, was sitting on that lawn chair this afternoon, when a gunman shot him several times and then ran away.

Police spent the afternoon taking photographs of all the bullet casings left behind. Investigators said the shooting happened just before 2:20 p.m.

Neighbors are worried the violence happened in the day light, and outside, where their children play. "It's scary, it's a real scary thing because I raise grandchildren," said Wanda Thalaheimer, neighbor.

The 26-year-old victim was unconscious when he was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. He later died from his injuries.

If you have any information or saw anything suspicious in this area, you are asked to call police.
