Asian citrus psyllid quarantine area expands in Tulare County

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- An additional portion of Tulare County has been placed under quarantine for the Asian citrus psyllid. This comes after two psyllids were discovered in separate traps northwest of Ivanhoe.

The new quarantine zone measures 110 square miles in Tulare County. It's bordered on the north by Avenue 384; on the east by Road 180; on the south by East Main Street; and on the west by Road 80. This brings the total quarantine area in Tulare County to 856 square miles.

The Asian citrus psyllid is of grave concern because it can carry the disease huanglongbing. There is no cure once a tree becomes infected. The diseased tree will decline in health until it dies.
