North Valley homeowners set up bait box for package thief

LODI, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspected thief in the North Valley received quite a surprise when he stole a package off a porch.

The homeowner said she and her fiance were tired of their mail and packages being stolen from outside their doorstep in Lodi. So they set up a home surveillance system. Their cameras picked up images of the very same guy stealing at least two different packages off their porch.

That's when the two came up with a plan-- they set out a bait box.

"It was full of poop," said Amanda Torres, homeowner. "Were angry enough to do something like that, so stay away from our house."

The bait box appears to have worked.

The couple got a clear picture of the suspect and hope police will be able to catch him soon.
