Fresno woman shares tragedy in book

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman who survived domestic violence and one of the worst imaginable tragedies is revisiting those troubled times to help women in similar situations.

Galina Messmer signed copies of her book Saturday at Majesty Bible Store in northeast Fresno, not far away from the cemetery where her three sons are buried. Messmer's husband killed the kids and himself, and set fire to their apartment after she told him she was leaving him.

That was in 1999. 17 Years later, her book "Galina's Hope" talks about surviving her worst moment. "The book actually is a message of hope for girls who lost hope," Messmer said. "For girls who going through difficult times in their life and don't know if they'll be able to walk again, breathe again."

Messmer is also signing books at Barnes and Noble Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
