Chase ends after box truck stolen out of Lemoore crashes in LA County

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KFSN) -- A suspect driving a box truck stolen from the South Valley led authorities on a chase in Los Angeles County.

Authorities first noticed the truck on Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita on Monday morning. The truck reached speeds up to 80 miles per hour, weaving in and out of traffic.

The suspect eventually drove onto a dirt shoulder, crashed into a freeway barrier and jumped from the truck in Boyle Heights. He ran for a while and then surrendered.

Authorities ran the license plate on the truck and discovered it was stolen out of Lemoore. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Jose Ramirez.
