CHP officers deliver baby after couple's car breaks down on the way to Visalia hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A special delivery came in Tulare County on the side of the road.

It happened just after 9 a.m. as the couple drove from Reedley down to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.

When they were about halfway there the car broke down on Road 80. The mother was having contractions while the father called 911.

Minutes later, CHP officers Tom Nevarez and Chris Webber showed up and had no choice but to deliver the baby girl in the back seat of the car.

Eventually, EMS arrived and took the family to the hospital where we're told mom and the newborn are doing great.

This is the couple's fourth child.
