VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Visalia police investigating a homicide after a man was found shot in street

Visalia police are still looking for whoever shot and killed a man riding a bicycle early Thursday morning.

Police found the man on his bike at the intersection of Northwest Third Avenue and Pearl Street just after 2:00 a.m.

So far they have not made any arrests.

Wittman village in North Visalia is a sanctuary for kids and adults that live around it and have been exposed to a lot.

"It's quiet out here, not because there was a shooting, but if you can come here during the mornings, you're going to see that it's very quiet," said Juan Guerrero, Wittman Village Community Center Director.

But the overnight shooting is hard to ignore. Because everyone's talking about it, and there are still blood stains on the street.

It's where Visalia police said they found a man shot to death just after two Thursday morning. They believe he was shot in the upper body while riding his bike.

"We found a large amount of shell casings at Northeast 4th and Granite. We are currently processing that scene to see if it's related to the deceased male one block to the west," said Sgt. Damon Maurice, Visalia Police Department.

The man hasn't been identified, but police believe he's in his 30's.

Wittman Village's director, Juan Guerrero, started getting texts and calls about the shooting at around six in the morning.

"Was it one of our kids, is it somebody we know, was it a parent. You know it's that type of questions that go through your mind."

Kids around here see a lot, and may even suffer trauma as a result. But Guerrero said it's his job to keep the kids occupied, after school or during the summer months.

"Today we have summer lunch that's going to start in another half hour, and then we're headed out to Rawhide Baseball-- we're taking 30 kids over there. We're keeping them busy, we're working with them."

They may talk about the shooting, sure. With all the talk and police tape, it's too hard to ignore. But by boarding a bus and going to a baseball stadium. They're balancing the bad-- with some good.

Police have not released the victim's name or exact age and there still haven't been any arrests.

This is the city's third homicide so far this year.
