CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Clovis police are investigating a fatal car crash that left one pedestrian dead. It happened on Villa and Bullard Thursday night.
Police said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Villa when it hit a woman in the roadway. They said the woman died at the scene.
Witness Ric Hampton said he heard the accident and went to try and help the victim. He said a nurse driving by also stopped to help the victim, but it was too late.
Hampton said the accident may have had something to do with faulty street lighting. "The driver stopped right away and I asked him, I was like, 'what happened?' I had to ask him a couple of times and he goes, 'I did not see her'. Didn't see her, so I'm thinking because the street lights are out."
Police said the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
