Pismo, Chaffee Zoo Sea Lion, dies

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some sad news from officials at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Pismo, one of the zoo's female sea lions, has died.

Pismo passed away on Saturday. She was 12 years old. She was named after the beach where she was rescued in 2004.

Pismo was blinded from metal fragments and was rehabilitated at the Fort MacArthur Marine Rehabilitation Center before finding her home in Fresno.

Zoo officials say Pismo started showing signs of illness in September and had been under veterinary care ever since.
