Man hospitalized following shooting in Merced neighborhood

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in the hospital following a shooting in a Merced neighborhood on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the man suffered a gunshot wound to the back in the area of "R" Street north of Childs Avenue.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to live.

It is unknown what led up to the shooting, and no suspect information was provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
