Woman killed after hit-and-run incident in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Downtown Fresno on Thursday night, police say.

Just before 10 p.m., a witness exiting Highway 99 flagged down a Fresno police officer after seeing a woman crossing the road on Ventura Avenue get hit by a large, dark colored SUV.

Police went to the area of "F" Street and Ventura Avenues, where they found the woman lying in the road with severe injuries.

The vehicle did not stop after striking the victim.

The woman was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

The victim has not been identified.

Police are looking to see if any surveillance cameras in the area captured the incident.
