Woman killed after being ejected from car in Visalia crash, police say

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspected DUI driver is in jail tonight after a deadly crash.

Officers responded to Riggin Avenue west of Akers Street just before 9:30 last night for a crash.

That's where officers found an unconscious woman lying in the road after a SUV collided with a telephone pole.

The woman was a passenger in the car and was thrown out of the vehicle.

Despite life-saving measures, she died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Christina Torres, was arrested for driving under the influence.

Officers say she was the only other person in the car and was not injured.

Police have not released the identity of the woman who was killed.
