Lawmakers Wonder if Clemens Lied

Congress is asking the Justice Department to investigate baseball player Roger Clemens Lawmakers want to know whether the seven-time CY Young award winner made false statements under oath when he denied using performance-enhancing drugs while testifying before a house committee. Clemens testified earlier this month in Washington.

Wednesday morning, league heads and player representatives from professional baseball, football, basketball and hockey are in Washington to testify over the use of drugs in sports. "We cannot ignore the fact that young athletes look up to and emulate professional athletes," said NBA Commissioner David Stern.

Representative Bobby Rush is introducing legislation forcing professional sports leagues to adopt the same drug testing standards as the Olympics.

The issue of steroids caught attention of Capitol Hill when the Mitchell Report was released earlier this year.
