Labor Day travel expected to dip

August 30, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Triple A expects about 34.4 million people to travel at least 50 miles from home this Labor Day weekend. That's a drop of better than one percent from a year ago, even with the price of gas backing off a bit from the highs several weeks ago.

One factor could be the threat from Hurricane Gustav, which could reach the Gulf Coast as early as Monday afternoon.

Traffic on Highway 99 and Highway 180 Saturday was pretty normal for a Saturday and that's pretty much true of highways across the country.
