Robbery Suspect Arrested in North Valley

Madera County sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of robbing a convenience store and stabbing its clerk.Lawrence Tabarez is now booked on attempted murder charges in the Madera County jail.

The robbery happened around 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Merle's Market.

The victim, identified as Rod Bame, is in stable condition.

Detectives found Tabarez within 30 minutes of the stabbing thanks to an anonymous call leading them to a shed down the road.

Tabarez is a parolee. Deputies say they also found crystal meth on him.
