A group of volunteers did some spring cleaning at a Fresno park Saturday, responding to a challenge made by Fresno City Councilmember Blong Xiong. The volunteers picked up trash and used rakes to landscape parts of Quigley Park in Central Fresno.

The clean up was sponsored by local community groups and businesses and organized by Xiong's office in recognition of Earth Day.

Kyle Loreto, Councilmember Xiong's Chief of Staff said, "this is one of our busiest parks. And it's great to see as many volunteers from all ages, from little kids to seniors who've come out to paint and clean and try and make a difference, not only for the community, but for the earth."

In addition to cleaning up the park, the volunteers also seeded the sports fields and and planted some trees and shrubs.
