Forever 21 Moves into the Hanford Mall

July 14, 2009 8:09:18 PM PDT
Just weeks after the Hanford Mall's Gottschalk's closed its doors, Forever 21 is preparing for its grand opening celebration in the same space. The store will open Friday and is planning a grand opening celebration on Saturday. Crews spent Tuesday transforming the former Gottschalk's by preparing the exterior for new signage. They've also painted the inside of the store and have begun moving in fixtures and merchandise.

The retailer has also hired about 100 employees for its new location and says more positions still need to be filled. While the company's trendy fashions may not work for everyone, the president of the Kings County Economic Development Coorporation says the entire community stands to benefit. "It's wonderful anytime a new store comes in. And when it comes in right on the heels of the closure of another store, it couldn't be any better in terms of the economy, from a job standpoint or a selection standpoint," said John Lehn.
