The marine is accused of attacking his estranged wife and her family. The incident started last Wednesday night, when investigators said, he stole a car from the Miramar Air Station near San Diego, and drove more than 300 miles to Reedley. He ended up at a home on Washington Avenue, near Buttonwillow Avenue in Reedley.

Neighbors here are telling gruesome stories. One woman told Action News she saw 24 year old Rachel Baskin in the street. One hand was covering her slashed throat; the other arm was holding her infant.

Investigators arrested Rachel's estranged husband, for using a butcher knife and gun to try to kill her family.

A family friend starting crying when police told her what happened.

A photographer with a local newspaper snapped a image of 24-year-old Rachel Baskin being loaded into a helicopter. Investigators said, her estranged husband slashed her throat.

In another photo, her brother 25-year-old Frank Gentsch is seen being treated by paramedics for a gunshot wound to his head.

Reedley's police chief said, 26-year-old Dejon Baskin attacked the entire family 8 o'clock Thursday morning.

Rachel's mother also suffered stab wounds to the neck.

Steve Wright, Reedley Police Chief said "Our understanding is the dispute was over the divorce they were undergoing. They were having some disputes over child custody, visitation and child support."

A family member took Rachel and Dejon's 18 month of daughter from the scene.

This neighbor told me, the victims were a normal family.

Investigators believe the suspect drove overnight from Miramar Air Base in San Diego to brutalize the family. He is cooperating with authorities and even mentioned his combat experience.

Steve Wright, Reedley Police Chief said "He did mention that he had done two tours in Iraq, who knows. People respond to combat differently."

Investigators believe the suspect intended to commit suicide after the attack. Dejon Baskin remains in custody Thursday night. All the victims are still in the hospital and expected to recover.
