New type of security in effect at Fresno's airport

FRESNO, Calif. The Transportation Security Administration has expanded use of explosive trace detection, or ETD technology.

Since a failed attack on Christmas Day, the TSA has increased its random use within security checkpoints.

Officers may swab a piece of luggage or passengers' hands, then use ETD technology to test for explosives.

Passengers can now expect to see use of ETD technology in boarding areas as well as security checkpoints.
