"To those people, it's just a trailer, but what they don't realize is that it took away somebody's life. It took away my life."
Carlos Flores says the past couple of weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. Flores makes his living as a full-time contractor. But two weeks ago, his livelihood dried up when someone stole both of his trailers ... including all of his tools from this gated parking lot in East Central Fresno.
"He actually cut the gate. This is the new lock on the heavy duty chain ... rolled the gate open, hooked up the trailer."
The thief got away with a black, 16-foot trailer bed, along with a white, Pace American enclosed cargo trailer similar to this one. One distinctive feature on that trailer ... is a set of spinner wheels. Total worth ... about 25-thousand-dollars. And according to Flores, surveillance cameras from a nearby business caught a white dually pick-up truck in the act.
"It, from what we hear resembles the same truck that was used in the kettle corn trailer story."
Flores is referring to a story Action News first aired earlier this month. That's when this 35-thousand-dollar kettle corn trailer was stolen from a North Fresno shopping center. After we aired a picture of it in one of our newscasts, a viewer led us to the missing trailer, and we in turn ... reunited the trailer with its grateful owner. Flores hopes he too will have that same type of luck.
In the meantime, a family member has lent him this trailer ... and he's scraped together some money to buy a few tools. But with his house in foreclosure ... and his wife on disability ... Flores admits he's between a rock and a very hard place.
"It's like getting kicked to the curb and almost you know, virtually being homeless because we're getting ready to move shortly and now I'm without what makes my living."
Fresno Police are in the process of reviewing that surveillance footage. Flores hopes that helps. But, he says his only hope now is that someone will see it and call it in.
