Elderly woman stabbed to death in her Fresno home

FRESNO, Calif.

The victim has been identified as 70-year-old Fairy Miles.

Police say she was stabbed Friday night inside her Southwest Fresno home. The home is located on Eugenia near Martin Luther King.

As of right now, police have not made any arrests. They say this is an isolated incident possibly involving a family member.

Meanwhile, less than three months ago, Action News interviewed the victim inside her home where she was killed Friday night.

"I haven't given it a thought."

This was 70-year-old Fairy Miles back in September. She expressed concern during an Action News interview about the expansion of a nearby middle school......that would leave her and her neighbors without a home.

Fairy Miles said, "I don't know where I'd live."

Fresno Police were called out to Miles' Southwest Fresno home just before 11:00 Friday night.

Initially, they were told Miles had fallen. But, when paramedics arrived, they noticed she was bleeding from at least one knife wound.

Lt. Jon Papaleo says, "There was an elderly female located here in the house on the 900 block of Eugenia. At this point, she is deceased." Investigators say Miles did not live alone.

They spent several hours Friday night into Saturday morning interviewing potential witnesses. "We have our investigators on scene and we're trying to talk to everyone who was out here who was in the house to try and determine what happened."

Saturday, we visited the area to try and talk to neighbors.

One man who lived with the woman refused saying he feared for his life. Others angrily told us to leave the neighborhood.

This is the 41st homicide in Fresno this year. Last year at this time, there were 39.

If you have any information, you are urged to call Fresno Police.
