Fresno students create valentines for veterans

FRESNO, Calif.

Handmade cards made by 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students at John Muir Elementary were delivered to real-life heroes at the VA Hospital in Central Fresno.

Members of VFW Post 8900 say they appreciated the sweet thought.

"So many here don't have anybody come from a family, but so many here don't have family. This is a real treasure for many of them," Olen Majers said.

More than 200 students created the valentines.

State Assembly member Henry T. Perea of Fresno partnered with John Muir Elementary school to come up with the idea.
