The fire happened just after one near Cornell and Wishon.
Firefighters contained the fire to one room of the home and items inside that room. They say other parts of the home were damaged by smoke.
"It appears this was an occupied home and no one was home at the time. Neighbors that were walking by saw the fire and called 911," Capt. Paul Garnier of the Fresno Fire Department said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
