SAN JOSE -- An alleged carjacking in San Jose ended in just the right place for the victim and exactly the wrong place for the suspect, who found himself being chased by a deputy fire chief and a city councilman.

A son said he saw a man carjack and kidnap his mother, so he jumped into his car and gave chase. The alleged carjacker then crashed right near a neighborhood meeting at Auzerais and Delmas Avenue.

San Jose Deputy Fire Chief Robert Sapien and San Jose City Councilman Raul Peralez were at the meeting and jumped into action when they heard the crash.

"We actually just held him down on the ground and had his arms wrapped up behind his back and he was trying to still get away," said Peralez.

The suspect was injured and taken to the hospital. His name has not been released.
