FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The generosity toward Valley veterans was abundant on Monday.
In addition to the $30,000 raised at the Hubbard-Baro Memorial Golf Tournament, AMVETS raised $6,000 to donate to the Fresno VA Hospital. The occasion was Because We Care Day, a decades-old tradition where volunteers take the time to visit with sick and hospitalized veterans.
"It's time that we recognize our veterans and give them their just due," said Anthony Gonzales, a VA Hospital representative.
In addition to the donation, the veterans were treated to a free catered lunch -- a small thanks for their service.
AMVETS volunteers provide nearly 200,000 hours of service at 142 veteran facilities across the country.
