Prosecutor Burton Francis told jurors how he believed Brooks murdered his victim. Francis said, "When he raised the gun, and he points it and fires into the crowd and fires into the crowd and fires into the crowd."

After that gunfire, 19-year-old Brant Daniels died. Two others were shot spreading chaos across University Village Apartments in May 2007. Francis said during his closing arguments the victims wanted to reclaim a stolen Sony PlayStation.

Brooks testified earlier in the trial and said, "At first I just thought they were coming over but it got heated too quickly so I knew it was something more." Brooks said he did not have the PlayStation. His attorney Jane Bolger claimed Brooks had a right to defend himself when Daniels and his friends barged into the apartment. Bolger said, "He's asking them to leave over and over again, get out, get out. There's arguing. Yea, Jonquel gets a gun."

But the prosecutor pointed out how and where Daniels was shot. Francis said, "Not shot in the back in a twisting sort of way. Not shot in the back in I'm almost out the door sort of way. He's shot in the back flat."

Brooks is facing murder and attempted murder charges. Jurors return on Thursday to continue deliberating.
