Twenty-three-year-old Army Private Rachel Waddell is a native of south suburban Hometown. She was greeted at Midway Airport by her family and members of the VFW.
Waddell spent six months on duty in Iraq and is now stationed in Kuwait, where she will return after her break.
Waddell was escorted home by the Chicago police and then by the Hometown police and fire departments.
