Action News was in Central Fresno near Belmont and Poplar. That's where PG&E presented the city with a $20 thousand check to break ground on the project. The money will help fund more than three dozen raised-bed boxes, a series of granite pathways and a drip irrigation system to conserve water. Organizers say the community garden will help feed families, increase access to healthier foods and revitalize the area.
Crews with the water division will install the plumbing system this weekend. The entire project is expected to be complete by the end of April.
