After more than two decades, Jim Connell is stepping down as executive director.
The former stockbroker planned to stay just three years and after 23 years, he is retiring at the end of December.
During his time, the non-profit grew from one to three blocks filled with food service, a warehouse and housing villages for the homeless.
Connell will now pass the reins over to Cruz Avila, a Sanger native with 15 years' experience in human and social services.
The Poverello House is hosting its first Feed the Hungry 5k run-walk and a pancake breakfast this Sunday at Woodward Park.
