Thursday Adventist Medical Center broke ground on its Family Birth Center. The $40 million project will feature 34 beds that include individual rooms where mothers and their families can be together during the birthing process. The new facility will also feature six neonatal intensive care beds.
"We've expanded the facilities for valley children's hospital and we have a six bed NICU unit here that can take care of those patients we would normally have to transfer out because of immaturity to the baby and such that so it truly expanded the serices for this community," Chief of Staff Dr. Rick Ellsworth said
The new family birth center is expected to open in 2015.
