/*Fashion Fair Mall*/ management said they use a combination of contracted security guards and Fresno police officers to patrol the mall property in Northeast Fresno. Following the shooting mall security said they feel confident about the safety measures they have put in place.
The parking lot outside of Fashion Fair Mall was busy Saturday. Olivia Trujillo was one of many shoppers at the mall. She said it was busy as you would expect 11 days before Christmas.
"It was crowded in there, you can maneuver kind of, but it was busy," Trujillo said.
Trujillo said she felt safe at the mall despite hearing about Friday night's shooting outside J.C. Penny.
Police say a 28-year-old man was shot in the foot. Investigators say the shooting happened after a confrontation between a man and a driver.
Witnesses say there were several men in the car, and one of them jumped out and shot another man in the foot and pistol whipping him, before driving off.
"It doesn't bother me I mean feel safe regardless I mean just keep away from the crowds, if you see something you're not going to go to it," Trujillo said.
Police are looking for three or four men involved in the shooting. In the meantime, Fashion Fair Mall management said they believe their personnel handled the situation properly, and they stand by their security measures.
Police said they are increasing patrols in and near the mall following the shooting. Some shoppers say they noticed the extra security but didn't think it was necessary.
"There were a couple of officers on horse and seemed like there were a little more personnel out and about, walking and observing," Shopper Brad Stone said.
There have been no arrests in Friday night's shooting. Police say they hope to identify the suspects through surveillance video. In the meantime police are asking anyone with information to call the Fresno Police Department.
