Steven Seagal considering run for Arizona governor

PHOENIX

The 61-year-old action star and martial arts expert told KNXV-TV, ABC's local news affilitate in Phoenix, that he is considering running for office in Arizona.

He made the comments while talking about his newly released reality series "Steven Seagal - Lawman: Maricopa County." Seagal says he's discussed the bid with controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

"Joe Arpaio and I were talking about me running for governor in Arizona, which was kind of a joke but I suppose I would remotely consider it but probably I would have a lot more other responsibilities ... that may be more important to address," Seagal told the television station.

Seagal is considering a shot at the state's highest office because he says he wants to increase border security. The actor says that open borders is the No. 1 problem the United States is currently facing.
