According to police, the 17-year-old unlicensed driver said he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake when he crashed into the 7-Eleven store. Surveillance video outside the store shows the car pulling in slowly to park, before plunging forward through the glass front of the store. The crash caused one store isle to smash into other.
The store owner said employees watched the incident unfold near the cash register. They said the driver is a regular customer of the store. He told workers that he was stopping by for a cup of coffee.
The accident caused several thousand dollars in damage.
"Definitely, it has disrupted my business quite a bit," said Sushil Prakash, 7-Eleven owner, "But not completely. We are still open... so you can still get your coffee and donuts."
The broken window at the 7-Eleven store was being repaired late Tuesday morning. The 17-year-old driver was cited by Fresno Police for operating a vehicle without a licence.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
This is the second car in two years to drive through the window at the Chestnut and Church 7-Eleven. A 91-year-old woman was behind the wheel in that crash.
