Loved ones organized a Zumbathon fundraiser at the Kerman Community Center on Sunday. Everyone was invited to take part in the energetic workout in exchange for donations.
The money will help cover funeral expenses for 67-year-old Maria Ledesma and her 29-year-old daughter, Christina. They were killed in a car crash near Kerman on March 21. The California Highway Patrol says another driver hit them after running a stop sign at Jensen and Goldenrod avenues.
Family members say the fundraiser was the perfect way to honor their lives.
"We're doing this because my mom loved to dance. That woman, she loved to dance so much, and we're all dancing in her honor and my sister," said Peggy Ramirez.
Relatives say they're thankful for the turnout at Sunday's fundraiser and the continued support from the community.
