SALTON CITY, Calif. -- Border Patrol agents arrested a man who was caught with packages of heroin inside his shoes Wednesday.
Authorities say during an inspection at a Highway 86 checkpoint, they noticed a nervous 23-year-old man on a commercial passenger bus around 4:30 p.m.
Agents found two packages of heroin, with an estimated street value of about $15,000, during a pat-down of the suspect.
The man, who is a U.S. citizen, was taken into custody. His name was not released.
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 186 pounds of heroin in the last fiscal year, according to a news release.
