FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The U.S.G.S. said the earthquake struck about 19 miles east of Soledad, California along the San Andreas fault in Monterey County at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday. The epicenter was 17 miles northeast of King City. The USGS says the quake occurred at a depth of 6 miles.
The immediate area is largely rural and lightly populated. The USGS public reporting pages show it was felt lightly or weakly around Monterey Bay and to the east in some San Joaquin Valley cities.
Action News has received several reports from people in Fresno who say they felt the quake. The U.S.G.S. shows the earthquake was also felt in Kings County, Santa Cruz and other areas along the Central Coast.
There are no reports of any damage.
