Geekwise Academy graduates on the road to success

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Several people looking to get back on their feet graduated from Geekwise Academy on Friday with the help of Fresno County and the EDC.

Eight people getting help from social services in the county now have the computer programming and coding skills to land them a job in the tech industry.

This is the first graduating class from a new partnership with the county, the Economic Development Corporation and Geekwise to help people get the tools they need to become self-sufficient.

Officials say the event not only helps people in need succeed, but sets an example for younger generations on how to take control of their own life and thrive.
