Fresno State students prepare for "Sip-tember"

This month is September, but for wine enthusiasts, it also marks a special time known as "Sip-tember."

For Fresno State students studying wine making, it's also a time to get their wine on display and into the hands of consumers. The students recently won two gold medals for their student-crafted wines for the 2011 California Syrah and the 2007 Saviez Syrah.

Three new "art and science" wines will be the featured selections of the student wine club, unleashed as it conducts its fall semester membership drive this month. The wines were developed through a partnership between the Fresno State Winery and a Senior Graphic Design class.

The drive is part of the "Sip-tember" observance of California Wine Month. Fresno State Winery was the first student winery in the nation to become commercially-bonded to operate on a university campus.
