CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Families who share a special bond gathered today in Clovis to celebrate the holiday season.

Hundreds of burn survivors of all ages, and their families, came together for a party at the Rodeo Hall. They are all former patients of the Leon S. Peter's Burn Center at Community Regional Medical Center.

Santa made an appearance at the party and took photos with guests. The event also offered crafting tables, plenty of food, and a sense of community.

"Probably the most important thing is coming together and sharing experiences, sharing in the recovery. Burn survivors helping burn survivors," said Sandra Yovino, Clinical Director, Leon S. Peter's Burn Center.

Organizers say connecting with other survivors is important to help people to deal with the trauma of a burn injury.
