FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Kids now have a new place to learn about science and the environment. The Highway City Community Center reopened on Wednesday and is now host to a nationally acclaimed program. The facility on State Street is now part of the Community Science Workshop Network.
The center will serve kids in the surrounding neighborhoods and school districts, and will offer year-round science programs, summer and winter science camps, field trips, after-school programs and river camps.
"As soon as we walked in, I knew it. It was like a flash just happened in front of me that this is the place that we should be at, and it's turned out to be a really fantastic location for us," said Manuel Hernandez, city of Fresno community coordinator.
The Community Science Workshop, Pacific Gas and Electric, and California Tinkering Afterschool Network helped make this program possible for the city of Fresno.
