Chaffee Zoo offers special behind-the-scene tours

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Even if you've been to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo you may not know about a chance to go behind-the-scenes with the animals.

The zoo offers special Sunday Ticket Tours each week, which give small groups of visitors a closer encounter than they would normally get. On Sunday, guests had a chance to meet the Asian elephants, Shaunzi and Kara.

They also learned about feeding and training the animals as well as conservation efforts. "It's always fun to have guests come here and allow guests to see you in this behind-the-scenes experience," zookeeper Sal Flores said. "And, really just feeling what it's like to be a keeper behind the scenes."

The special tour cost $15 for zoo members or $20 for non-members, but staff members say the prices and exhibits vary, so be sure to check with the ticket office for more information.
