Clovis police officer honored for taking DUI drivers off streets

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Clovis police officer was honored in Sacramento on Saturday for his work preventing DUI accidents.

Officer Jesus Santillan received a California Hero Award at the Statewide Law Enforcement and Community Recognition Event.

The ceremony -- sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving -- recognized Officer Santillan for taking 80 intoxicated drivers off the streets of Clovis last year.

His arrests accounted for 21 percent of the department's total DUI arrests in 2013.
