FRESNO, Calif. -- A woman is in critical condition this morning after she was thrown off the back of a motorcycle overnight.

Fresno Police say the driver, 39-year-old Vernon Erlewine, was arrested for driving drunk. Officers responded after midnight on Fresno Street near Alluvial in Northeast Fresno. It's unclear what made the woman fall off the back of the motorcycle, but they say she has major injuries to her head and body.

She is expected to survive.

Investigators say Erlewine did not have a motorcycle license and also had a warrant for driving without a license.
