FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Highway 99, headed southbound, was partially shut down Monday in Merced County after a deadly crash involving several cars, the California Highway Patrol says.
Authorities say a Ford F-350 traveling northbound crossed the median at Bloss Avenue and collided with a Dodge Challenger in the opposing lane just before 1 p.m.
The crash killed a passenger in the Dodge and seriously injured the driver, while the driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries.
Two other cars were also hit but no one was hurt.
The highway is expected to reopen around 4 p.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the CHP.
