Los Angeles police are investigating after a man's body was found in an unplugged refrigerator Sunday behind a Sun Valley home involved in a marijuana-growing operation.

SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES -- A man's body was found in an unplugged refrigerator behind a home in Sun Valley early Sunday morning, police said.

The discovery was made in the 11100 block of Runnymede Street at about 5:30 a.m. when authorities received an anonymous tip. Detectives believe the man was in his 30s and was in the fridge for several days.

A next door neighbor said she noticed an odd smell coming from the home, but did not think twice about it until investigators knocked on her door in the morning. She added that the two men and two women living at the home had only been there for a few months.

Other residents in the area said many people were coming and going from the home in expensive cars.

During the investigation, authorities found an illegal marijuana-growing operation inside the garage.

Detectives took the fridge containing the man's body in a trash bag from the property for further examination and to determine a cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
