1 person dead after plane crash in Kern County

KEENE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A deadly plane crash is under investigation near the town of Keene in Kern County.

The Kern County Fire Department said one person was killed in the crash.

Initial reports from the FAA confirm that the plane was an older model aircraft called a YAK-18A.

A coordinator with an event called "All Red Star" confirms to us the plane was on its way to Porterville. It's the largest formation training gathering in the country.
