Fresno City Council approves $1.2 billion budget
The Fresno City Council gave its final approval to the city budget on Tuesday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno City Council gave its final approval to the city budget on Tuesday. The $1.2 billion budget restores many cuts made over the past five years.

Top on the list is the addition of 43 new police officers and additional firefighters. The budget also restores code enforcement officers and other personnel. It also restores some money for parks.

The council approved the budget by a unanimous vote. "This year we called it the restoration budget because it brought in a lot of the basic needs that we needed," City Council Member Sal Quintero said.

Mayor Ashley Swearengin has 10 days to veto any items in the budget, but has so far indicated she's fine with everything the council approved.
