See the Pier Fire from the cockpit of a California National Guard plane

The Pier fire has so far burned 31,454 acres and is now 70-percent contained.

The Forest Service says evacuations will be downgraded from mandatory to voluntary at 6 pm Friday, September 15th.

Meanwhile, the California National Guard has released video shot from inside the cockpit of one of their planes that flew over the fire last week.

Investigators say the blaze started when a stolen car was pushed off highway 190 and caught fire. The fire started August 29th.
