FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- It was a special Thanksgiving in Downtown Fresno for those in need.
Poverello House staff and volunteers helped serve breakfast and lunch on Thursday to some people who may have otherwise went without. Breakfast included burritos, coffee and juice, and lunch was a more traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Officials say on a day like Thursday, it's important to them to make their clients feel special.
"We like to have our clients feel warm, feel welcome on a day-to-day basis, but because it's the holiday season we like to make them feel a little bit more special with all the trimmings and everything that goes into the meals," Poverello House executive director Cruz Avila said.
Poverello House officials expected to hand out over 800 meals over the course of the day. Turkeys donated for Thursday will also be used for meals on Christmas.
If you'd like to make a donation, you can contact the Poverello House at (559) 498-6988.
