Volunteers clean up Lafayette Park in Central Fresno
A local park is looking a lot cleaner thanks to dozens of community members.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local park is looking a lot cleaner thanks to dozens of community members. About 65 employees from Smart & Final, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay and BMS Flooring spent their Saturday bringing new life to Lafayette Park in Central Fresno. They raked leaves, picked up trash and pressure-washed the cement.

Smart & Final organized the event ahead of its new store opening in the area as a way to connect with the community. About 20 employees from the new location at Blackstone and Clinton avenues were among the volunteers. The store opens Sept. 25.
